Challenges Faced by Motor Lublin
Motor Lublin, one of the youngest Polish football clubs, is currently a newcomer to the I Liga. Despite being established in 1966, the club is only now starting to gain popularity and success. Under the guidance of coach Goncalo Feio, the team has achieved promising results, currently holding the 7th position in the table with 26 points after 16 matches, only six points behind the league leader, Arka Gdynia.
Struggles with Hooliganism
However, not everything is going as well as Zbigniew Jakubas, the owner and president of Motor Lublin, would like. Jakubas, considered one of the richest Poles with an estimated fortune of 1.95 billion złotys, is disappointed with the behavior of some club fans.
In November of last year, the magazine "Gazeta Wyborcza" described the brutal war that is taking place between Motor Lublin's hooligans. According to the article, the club is forced to pay high fines and engage lawyers to deal with public order offenses committed by fans. Motor was also fined 20,000 złotys for the behavior of the fans and had to close part of the stands for one match.
Efforts to Resolve the Issue
Zbigniew Jakubas is concerned about the negative impact of these incidents on the club and its sponsors. That is why he has announced that ticket prices will be increased if fans do not help him resolve this problem. Jakubas does not accept such behavior and wants to ensure that there are no incidents breaking the rules at Motor's matches. His goal is to bring order to the situation and create a friendly atmosphere at the stadium.
Challenges Ahead
Despite discussions and subsequent agreements with leaders of the fan groups, Jakubas realizes that this will not be an easy task. Other Polish league club owners have also struggled with this problem and engaged in prolonged disputes with fans. Examples include Legia Warsaw, Lech Poznań, Wisła Kraków, and Zawisza Bydgoszcz. However, Jakubas argues that he does not regard it as a war but simply as information that certain behaviors will not be tolerated.
Unpredictable Outcome
However, not everyone is convinced by Jakubas' plan. There are groups among Motor's fans that will not agree to the introduction of new rules. Much depends on the attitude of the leaders of these groups, who have a significant influence on the rest of the fans. Nevertheless, Jakubas believes that the majority of fans will understand his intentions and that they can work together for the future of the club.
Important Matches Ahead
Before the end of the autumn round, Motor Lublin will play three more matches against teams such as Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała, Zagłębie Sosnowiec, and Lechia Gdańsk. These are crucial matches that could determine the club's position in the table.
